Breast Cancer Awareness
The month of October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness month and is observed worldwide. Guyana has joined in the annual campaign to increase awareness in an effort to eliminate this dreadful disease. In observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness month,October 2018, Demerara Shipping Company Limited (DSCL) participated in two (2) activities.
GTT’s Pinktober 2018
Employees of DSCL participated in GTT’s second annual Pinktober 5k/10k/run/walk held on Saturday 20, 2018 which commenced at 6:00 am from D’Urban Park, then to the Kitty seawall roundabout and finally concluded at D’Urban Park.
Breast Cancer Awareness Talk
The management and staff of DSCL organized and hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Talk in DSCL’s boardroom on Friday 26, 2018 from 11:00am. The facilitator was Dr. Syed Ghazi from the Cancer Institute of Guyana. Dr. Ghazi spoke extensively on early detection which he noted save lives. He also promoted regular screening practices such as self-examination mammograms and ultrasounds.
